What collectors mean by Kermit
Black dial, green bezel. The 16610LV marked fifty years of the Submariner and was the first green Rolex sports watch, which at the time divided opinion sharply. It has aged into one of the more sought-after modern Submariner references.
Some collectors now call the current 126610LV the new Kermit, since it also pairs a green bezel with a black dial. Most reserve Kermit for the 16610LV and call the current reference the Starbucks. Name the reference in the enquiry and the ambiguity disappears.

The aluminium insert fades and scratches, unlike the ceramic that replaced it, so bezel condition is a real variable rather than a formality. Faded green reads differently from worn green, and the market treats them differently. Beyond that: lug sharpness, bracelet stretch on the older Oyster bracelet, and whether the insert is original rather than a service replacement.
